Ultrasound irradiation is not only used for echo but also for the treatment of fractures and sprains by increasing its power. In this study, we investigated the effects of 5 and 10 MHz ultrasound on developmental stage chick embryos to test early treatment of congenital heart disease. We combined the shell-less culture method with SS-OCT to observe heart development in chick embryos. Preliminary results showed that ultrasound irradiation resulted in heart shape abnormalities and arrhythmias. We will discuss the effects of various ultrasound frequencies and intensities on the embryos.
