Laser-induced liquid jet (LILJ), which is generated by the rapid expansion of liquid when an infrared laser beam is irradiated to water in a nozzle, is expected to be an effective method for injecting drugs into root canal lesions, which is necessary in dental root canal treatment. In this report, we evaluated the pressure generated by a 2.94 µm wavelength Er:YAG laser beam transmitted through a quartz glass fiber and a hollow optical fiber to generate a LILJ in a nozzle installed at the tip of the fiber.
