Due to concerns over the vulnerability of modern cryptography, there is growing interest in quantum key distribution (hereafter referred to as QKD), which is theoretically secure from an information perspective. However, various eavesdropping attacks have been proposed against actual QKD devices. Among these, the time-shift attack has been noted for its potential to significantly degrade the key generation rate, a critical performance measure of QKD. In this study, we propose a countermeasure against this attack and demonstrate its effectiveness through simulations.
