We have previously reported on real-time distance measurements using a resonant-tunneling diode (RTD) oscillator based on the subcarrier frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar principle, with a measurement time reduced to 4 ms per point. In this report, we describe a system that combines the distance measurement using the subcarrier FMCW radar and two-dimensional scanning using rotating mirrors to determine the three-dimensional position of targets.
