We propose a beam steering technique of terahertz (THz) wave using nonlinear polarization with a component parallel to the propagation direction of the pump beam. In this method, the wavefront of the THz wave can be formed by the shape of the focal spot. We experimentally focused a circularly polarized pump pulse onto a (111)-cut ZnTe crystal as a linear shape spot by a cylindrical lens. We conducted a THz time-domain spectroscopic imaging measurement, and succeeded in generating THz plane-wave and manipulation of the wavefront.
