Electrically-driven organic laser devices have been reported recently. In these devices, single crystals of thiophene/phenylene co-oligomers (TPCOs) have been utilized as active media. However, the previously reported TPCOs possess low solubilities, and crystal growth has been performed by sublimation or solution process in high temperature. Here, we newly desinged and synthesized a TPCO molecule with improved solubility, and crystal growth was performed at room temperature. Moreover, amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) or lasing was observed. Thus, we achieved to discover a highly soluble TPCO molecule without disappearing the laser function.
