We have been investigating emerging Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) cavities using organic thin films. We have been studying disk-type cavities,and we have designed a new ring-type cavity and compared the optical properties of the two. In particular, we focused on the energy threshold of amplified spontaneous emission (threshold of ASE) and investigated the parameters that determine the ASE threshold.
