Manipulating the magnetic properties is one of great interest in spintronics. Especially, the gallium (Ga) ion irradiation using focused ion beam (FIB) is effective in modifying the crystalline structure. Thulium iron garnet (Tm3Fe5O12 or TmIG) is ferrimagnetic insulator with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, originating from lattice mismatch strain. This characteristic makes TmIG well-suited for modification of its magnetic properties using FIB. Here, we locally modify the magnetic properties of TmIG film using FIB and analyze the resonance frequency of spin wave via Brillouin light scattering. We deposited epitaxial TmIG with a thickness of 22 nm using on-axis RF magnetron sputtering on Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) substrate. We can see the clear difference between non-doped and Ga-doped TmIG. It indicates that the magnetic properties of TmIG are modified by the Ga+ ion irradiation.
