high harmonic generation
We produced high harmonics of liquid water up to 11th by tightly focusing the MIR beam, and the transition from perturbative to non-perturbative scaling is confirmed. In the MIR-pump HHG-probe experiments, we observe the persistent enhancement of HHG yield by a factor of 3 when the water sample is pre-excited ~2 ps prior to the strong probe pulse. Furthermore, the enhancement ratio is found to match the absorption peak of liquid water. In this talk, we will discuss the possible mechanism linking the resonant excitation and the HHG.
