On-site detection of nuclear materials concealed by heavy metals is an urgent international issue. We have proposed a novel low-cost and transportable active neutron method called the 252Cf rotation method. In addition, a water Cherenkov detector was developed as a low-cost and highly sensitive neutron detector suitable for this method. In this presentation, we report the experimental results of the detection of lead-shielded enriched uranium using the developed system.
