We have conducted the evaluation of phototoxicity induced by short wavelength light using the live cell imaging. Plasmonic substrates for live cell imaging require transmission of excitation light, thereby preventing enhancement of plasmonic properties through interaction between a mirror and nanostructures. Therefore, we demonstrated through numerical simulations that using thin silver films instead of mirrors allows for transmission of excitation light while achieving sharp resonance peaks and broad field enhancement over a large area.
