The Haber-Bosch process, which is the main synthesis method for nitrogen fertilizers important in agriculture, has some challenges in terms of environmental impact and sustainability. Our research group has succeeded in the highly selective synthesis of N2O5 using air plasma, a plasma nitrogen fixation method that could solve these problems. Since N2O5 can be easily converted to nitrate, this study discusses the conversion efficiency of N2O5 to nitrous/nitrate, the effect of nitrogen fertilization on plants, and damage to plants, with the aim of quantitative evaluation of the effect of nitrogen fertilization.
