It is necessary to elucidate their thermal and electrical conduction mechanisms to apply layered mineral materials to devices. In this study, we first focused on the electrical conductivity of weathered biotites. If the origin of electrical conduction is ionic conduction, atomic diffusion between layers is expected to be very important. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diffusion potential of interlayer atoms in weathered biotites using first-principles electronic structure calculations.
