In this study, we proposed and analyzed a PCSEL structure with DBR layers above and below the PC layer as a new design approach for controlling the coupling coefficients. By controlling the round-trip phase of the top-side DBR layer with an intensity reflectivity of approximately 50%, we showed that the tunable range of the Hermitian and non-Hermitian coupling coefficients can be expanded to about three times, or reduced to about 0.4 times, that of the conventional structure while maintaining the optical confinement factor in the PC layer.
