Our group has successfully observed a non-Hermitian point gap induced by anisotropic radiative loss in a square-lattice photonic crystal slab with triangular air holes. We have also proposed a method to generate bound states in the continuum (BICs), in which radiative loss is suppressed, by breaking the structural symmetry. Since radiative loss changes rapidly in the vicinity of BICs, anisotropic loss can be effectively introduced. In this presentation, we propose a structure based on BICs to effectively induce anisotropy in radiative loss and report the successful observation of a point gap.
