In intestinal segmentation, spatiotemporal deformation of periodic constrictions contributes to the mixing and retention of luminal contents. In this study, we demonstrated that an on-chip actuator based on a photoresponsive hydrogel thin film can induce intestine-like segmental deformation near physiological temperature. We further constructed an observation system combining near-infrared light stimulation with fluorescent particle imaging, and investigated basic conditions for internal flow analysis by acquiring particle images inside the channel.
