To establish a technology for selectively removing senescent cells, we compared the effects of pulsed electric field application on normal and senescent fibroblasts. While initial membrane permeability immediately after application was higher in normal cells, the dead cell ratio after 24 hours was significantly higher in senescent cells, demonstrating opposite behaviors. Furthermore, the correlation between initial membrane damage and the 24-hour dead cell ratio showed differing trends between the two, suggesting a distinct electric field response mechanism between normal and senescent cells.
