Thermal plasma processes in the future will require plasma technologies based on new perspectives, both academically and in industrial applications. A perspective grounded in the elucidation of fundamental phenomena rather than based on empirical rules will establish new milestones in plasma processing. Multiphase AC discharges with freeform shape, as well as the treatment of hazardous waste using large trucks equipped with water plasma systems, could lead to new developments.
