In this study, we focused on a fundamental issue in circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy—a method widely used for chirality assessment—where circular polarization conversion caused by anisotropy generates artifacts in the CD signals. Using twisted gold nanorod dimers as a model system, we decomposed the observed CD into intrinsic CD (true CD) and circular conversion dichroism (CCD) arising from asymmetric polarization conversion. The results revealed that the observed CD originates primarily from true CD, while CCD is strongly suppressed.
