An all-polarization-maintaining (PM) and all-fiber NALM-based mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser was constructed to reduce environmental perturbations and simplify optical alignment. By placing the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) coupler outside the cavity, the cavity length was shortened, and stable mode-locking operation was achieved. The output spectrum showed a center wavelength of 1590 nm with a full width at half maximum of 22 nm, and the repetition frequency was measured to be 98 MHz. Future work will focus on optical amplification and spectral broadening to achieve the detection of the carrier-envelope offset frequency (fCEO).
