Arbitrary Optical Waveform Generation
We have developed a system for the continuous generation of arbitrary optical waveforms by controlling the amplitudes and phases of phase-locked harmonic components (1ω–5ω) with a frequency spacing of 125 THz, generated using an optical frequency division technique. Because all harmonic components are generated and manipulated coaxially, the system exhibits high stability against external perturbations. Reconstruction of the optical electric field waveform confirmed the stable generation of arbitrary optical waveforms on the attosecond timescale. Furthermore, we report on the application of the generated optical waveforms to the ultrafast control of tunnel currents.
