This lecture presents our efforts to develop a distributed neural interface device with multimodal capabilities for electrical and optical stimulation and measurement. Each individual device in the distributed system is equipped with a CMOS integrated circuit chip, offering expandable functionality and flexibility in the range of animals and system configurations it can support.
