For microwave noise reduction using electro-optic (EO) combs, it is crucial to simultaneously achieve bandwidth expansion and optical path length reduction. In this study, we investigated broadband EO comb generation using a multi-stage Si modulator. While high RF driving was conventionally limited by RF loss, optimizing the RF feeding system promoted higher-order sideband generation. By utilizing highly nonlinear effects, we significantly expanded the EO comb bandwidth from approximately
1.3 THz to 3.98 THz. Furthermore, we successfully generated 903-fs optical pulses, achieving the world's shortest pulse duration for a Si-modulator-based platform.
