Amid the advancement of neutron utilization and the ongoing development of thermoluminescent (TL) glasses, elucidating the individual contributions of α particles and tritium—produced via the 6Li neutron capture reaction—to the TL characteristics remains a challenge. In this study, to individually evaluate the effect of α particles, a Dy3+-doped Li2O–CaO–P2O5 glass was irradiated with a He ion beam possessing an energy close to that of the α particles generated during neutron irradiation, and its thermoluminescence characteristics were investigated.
