HDDs are primary storage devices in data centers. To achieve higher recording density, we propose an HDD reader employing a synthetic ferrimagnetic free layer in a TMR sensor. The proposed structure enhances the signal in the bit transition region while maintaining the signal at the bit center, resulting in a quasi-differential waveform and improved resolution. We present micromagnetic simulation results of the proposed structure.
