Uniaxially aligned films of achiral polythiophene were multiply stacked with sequential rotation of the substrate to form helically stacked multilayers. Owing to the structural chirality of the prepared multilayers, pronounced circular dichroism (CD) was observed. The CD spectra depended on structural parameters such as the twisting angle, number of layers, and helical handedness, and were well reproduced by Mueller matrix-based optical simulations. Moreover, chemical doping of the polymer led to CD signals extending into the near-infrared region.
