Aiming for the highly sensitive detection and identification of trace gas mixtures, we developed a terahertz cavity spectroscopy system that can be introduced into terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). We constructed a Fabry-Pérot cavity with a cavity length of 3.75 m to match a general-purpose 80 MHz femtosecond laser, and compensated for the Gouy phase. In the experiment, we observed a 0.85 THz pulse completing 9 laps within the cavity (a propagation distance of approximately 34.4 m), successfully observing THz wave pulses with a detection sensitivity up to approximately 100 times higher than that of general THz-TDS.
