Monitoring engine oil requires a compact and simple measurement system that can be integrated into machinery. Conventional measurement systems, however, have faced the challenge of using large-scale equipment. In this study, we constructed a measurement system using a compact vector network analyzer and a shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) device to measure unused and used oils. Based on the measurement results, velocity and attenuation changes were calculated, and evaluations and comparisons were conducted from the perspectives of physical and electrical properties.
