To elucidate the effects of mechanical stimulation on the beating cycle of cardiomyocytes, we developed a feedback system capable of monitoring spontaneous beating in real time, predicting the next beating timing, and delivering mechanical stimuli at any desired phase. Utilizing cardiomyocytes derived from chick embryos, we investigated the cellular responses by applying mechanical stimulation at multiple specific timings, including the refractory period. In this presentation, we demonstrate the modulation of beating intervals and the induction of fibrillation resulting from physical interventions, and discuss how the mechanical environment influences the synchronization mechanism.
