Congenital heart defects are thought to be influenced by environmental factors, such as maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy. In this study, we used chicken embryos to observe the effects of ethanol on cardiac development using SS-OCT. By combining structural contrast and Doppler imaging, we optimized the scanning and analysis protocols to evaluate intracardiac blood flow dynamics. In our presentation, we will discuss the relationship between blood flow alterations and cardiac morphology induced by ethanol administration.
