This study aims to experimentally elucidate the behavior of polarization-dependent optical lateral forces on microparticles in mid-infrared evanescent fields, establishing the foundation for a two-dimensional particle sorting method based on chemical composition. By controlling the polarization angle of a 9.3 µm laser, total internal reflection was induced at a diamond prism interface to apply the resulting evanescent field to silica microparticles. The results confirmed distinct changes in the particles' migration angles depending on the polarization angle, experimentally demonstrating the existence of the optical lateral force.
