Syngas (H2 + CO) produced from the pyrolytic gasification of woody biomass can be utilized for gas-engine power generation and hydrocarbon production via the Fischer–Tropsch process. However, pipe blockage caused by the formation of tar and coke remains a major challenge. In this study, a pyrolysis–plasma integrated process was investigated to suppress tar and coke formation. As a result, high gas yields and syngas selectivity were achieved, demonstrating the potential of plasma for woody biomass gasification.
