Motivated by predictions of a large anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) in tetragonally distorted Fe2PtAl, we investigated structural transitions and transport properties in epitaxial Fe50Pt50-xAlx (x = 0 - 25) thin films. XRD revealed a sharp transition from a cubic B2 phase (x = 25, 20) to a distorted tetragonal phase at x = 15 (c/a = 0.88). The x = 25 film exhibited a Nernst coefficient of 0.62 µV/K. These results establish a critical boundary for engineering tetragonal Heusler phases for thermoelectric applications.
