Electric Double Layer Transistor
An electret formed by immobilizing the electric double layer in an ionic gel was used to fabricate a two-terminal field-effect transistor without an external gate electrode. The fixed ion distribution modulates the carrier density in the semiconductor channel, and the current state is retained after voltage application, demonstrating nonvolatile field-effect operation. This approach offers a promising platform for low-power iontronic devices.
