Transition-metal oxides with strong electronic correlation have recently attracted significant attention as transparent conductors because their plasma frequencies lie in the infrared region . Especially, epitaxial thin films of perovskite-type SrNbO3 exhibit high optical transmittance extending into the ultraviolet region with a low electrical resistivity of 2.82 × 10-5 Ω cm . In BaNbO3, where the A-site Sr is substituted by Ba, it is expected that rotational distortions and orbital hybridization from the A-site are suppressed, which could alter the magnitude of visible-light absorption derived from the Nb d-d transitions. However, its optical properties have yet to be reported. In this study, we synthesized high-quality BaNbO3 epitaxial thin films and evaluated their electrical and optical properties.
