[8a-A24-13]Generation of nonequilibrium quasiparticles due to Andreev reflection in a superconductor-normal metal junction

In the Andreev reflection process in an Al/Au junction, we found that energy quanta of the energy > twice the superconducting gap of Al are emitted at a bias larger than 1/3 of the threshold of direct injection of quasiparticles. In this study, we experimentally show that, in the same bias condition, quasiparticles are generated in the Al electrode of the junction due to the Andreev reflection.
