Because the amplification mechanism of nonlinear gain-managed amplification (GMNA) heavily depends on the absorption and gain spectra of the gain medium, previous demonstrations have been limited to systems using ytterbium- or erbium-doped fibers. This study proposes a 1300-nm band GMNA utilizing a praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber with a novel spectral broadening technique. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrated that this method is feasible.
