Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS), which limits the power scaling of nanosecond fiber lasers, can be suppressed by applying phase modulation to the input light. However, analytical formulas are currently available only for a few representative and idealized phase-modulation methods. In this work, we present a general framework for analytically deriving the SBS threshold under phase modulation and obtain two new analytical solutions. This presentation will also discuss the results of experimental validation.
