The design and control of urban transportation networks are critical challenges for alleviating traffic congestion, reducing environmental impact, and enabling efficient logistics. In recent years, the concept of topology, originally developed in condensed matter physics, has been applied to systems such as thermal diffusion, making it possible to design directional diffusion through the utilization of edge modes. This presentation reports the application of topological concepts to urban transportation network design and discusses the resulting directional transport characteristics.
