In recent years, shift currents generated in crystals with broken spatial inversion symmetry have attracted significant attention. It has been reported that the characteristics of these currents are enhanced by the contribution of quasiparticles. Therefore, in this study, we focused on polaritons—strongly coupled quasiparticles of light and matter—with the aim of elucidating their contribution to shift currents. We fabricated a device capable of simultaneously evaluating polariton states and photocurrent characteristics, and based on angle-resolved reflectance spectra and photocurrent measurement results, we demonstrated the possibility that polaritons enhance the shift current response.
