Degradation of PEDOT:PSS is a major issue in conductive polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors. In this study, the degradation mechanism and suppression of PEDOT:PSS degradation were investigated using a model capacitor cell. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV–Vis spectroscopy revealed that ethylene glycol accelerates the degradation of PEDOT:PSS under voltage application, whereas chlorotrimethoxysilane suppresses the degradation.
