We have been investigating power scaling of Ho lasers operating around 2.1 µm, which can be efficiently pumped by Tm lasers at around 1.9 µm. In this study, the laser performance of a Ho:YAG single-crystal rod for amplification experiments was evaluated. In addition, the construction of a Ho:YAG amplifier pumped by a home-built 100-W-class Tm fiber laser is presented.
