In research on organic devices, fundamental physical properties such as the electronic structure of organic semiconductors and the alignment of energy levels at interfaces provide important guidelines. In this presentation, I would like to review and discuss the development of studies on the electronic structures and carrier behaviors of organic semiconductors, which, unlike inorganic semiconductors, possess localized electronic systems.
