CIS-based chalcopyrite solar cells have long served as an important platform for studying off-stoichiometric compositions, intrinsic defects and their self-compensation, and responses to light illumination and bias application. In this presentation, we build on these prior studies to discuss the operating mechanisms, photoresponses of constituent layers, metastability, and degradation mechanisms of perovskite solar cells.
