This study reports on the application of self-assembled arrays of silicon nanoparticles to anti-counterfeiting labels. Using scalable methods such as imprinting, labels are fabricated by randomly and densely arranging particles that exhibit low-loss and high-saturation Mie resonances. Easy photographic authentication is demonstrated based on 550-nm high-resolution random color patterns. Furthermore, their identification and anti-counterfeiting performances are evaluated, and their efficacy as an unclonable security technology is discussed.
