We designed an artificial synapse-inducing molecule and fabricated microelectrodes functionalized with its cognate receptor, enabling the molecular-level induction of synapse-like junctions between the electrodes and primary cultured neurons. This technology is expected to provide a foundation for next-generation microelectrode platforms capable of cell-type-specific neural activity recording.
