Semiconductor-sensitized thermal cells (STC) are electrochemical devices that generate electricity through redox reactions of metal ions in an electrolyte driven by the thermal excitation of a semiconductor. Although the application of solid polymer electrolytes (SPE) has been investigated as an alternative to liquid electrolytes, their low ionic mobility remains a major challenge. In this study, an SPE containing Cu(OTf)2, which possesses a large anion and high affinity for polymer matrices, was prepared and its applicability to STC was evaluated.
