Three-dimensional (3D) gel dosimeters are a group of chemical dosimeters in which an aqueous solution containing a radiosensitive substance is solidified with a gelling agent such as gelatin. This presentation will provide an overview of 3D gel dosimeters, focusing particularly on PVA-Iodide type gel dosimeters, and will report on their basic characteristics, clinical application examples using a self-made optical CT device and a 2D optical scanner, as well as their challenges and possibilities.
