This study aims to evaluate the beam deflection characteristics of laser light side-incident into a liquid crystal cell under applied voltages. A refractive index gradient was formed in the liquid crystal layer using a triangular-patterned electrode structure, and the deflection behavior of laser light propagating through the cell was evaluated based on the measured intensity distribution. The experimental results are reported and discussed.
