The evolution of generative AI shows no signs of slowing down, and it is already increasingly capable of making proposals that surpass human expertise. This progress is supported not only by electronics but also by photonics, which plays a crucial role. As a result, the term “Photonics-Electronics Convergence” has come to appear frequently in the news and other media. This technology will serve as a driving force not only for generative AI, but also for the advancement of a wide range of technologies in society. Looking ahead, the goal is to achieve integration not only between optics and electronics, but also with radio-frequency technologies. In this talk, we will provide an overview of heterogeneous material integration as a key fabrication technology, as well as Photonic–Electronic Co-Design as a key design technology.
